Engaging at least 200 businesses in providing a full range of experiential learning opportunities for Lakes Region students by the year 2020.

About the 200x2020 Program

200 by 2020 is a workforce development partnership aimed at engaging at least 200 businesses in providing a full range of experiential learning opportunities for Lakes Region students by the year 2020.

In 2011, our first project was to organize a series of career exploration panels for high school students to help them identify fields of interest early enough to influence their high school course selections in junior and senior years. We host four panels every school year, each themed around a particular career cluster. Each panel features about eight local people who work in professions in the featured cluster and allows students the opportunity to hear first-hand what the requirements of their jobs are.

200 by 2020’s second project is the high school internship and job shadow database contained on this website. This project is aimed at increasing the number of students who complete internships and job shadows during high school. The internship database is available to any business and any school in the Lakes Region. This database streamlines the process of finding an internship position or a job shadow.

This year, 200 by 2020 is bringing an entrepreneurship program called Youth Leadership to the Lakes Region via a pilot program with the Laconia School District. Stay tuned for details on this program.

We look forward to creating programs for other grade levels, all the way down to pre-school.
